Capharnaum: The Town of Jesus

The Christian Testament has Capharnaum as the town where Jesus preached in the synagogue and performed many miracles. Capharnaum is within walking distance of the Sea of Galilee and has been identified as the site of the home of Saint Peter and the town at which Jesus centered his public ministry. From the shore of the Sea of Galilee the site of the ancient city of Magdela (presumed to be the birthplace of the Gospel’s Mary Magdalene) is visible in the distance.
